Our Story

Our Story

In June of 2005, New Hope Church in Greenwood, Indiana sent 25 students and adults to Nicaragua for 10 days to serve in and around Managua. As we traveled down a bumpy dirt road into the community called El Canyon, it became obvious that this road would represent not only the physical work that God called us to do in Nicaragua, but it would also represent the intertwining and reshaping of our lives spiritually. What happened on that trip was powerful and unforgettable, forever penetrating the hearts of the team members.

Since that first trip many have returned again and again. It has shaped college majors, career paths and whole hearts for serving and loving the beautiful Nicaraguan people. For several members it would impact their lives through adoption.  Through others it would become a long-term mission that continues in El Canyon but has expanded far beyond that village. This expansion includes many other areas of Nicaragua and not only focuses on orphan care but community development and church planting as well.

We have become family and we are convinced His purpose for us is to commit to developing deep and lasting relationships in Nicaragua.  God has expanded what was once New Hope Nicaragua to include more churches, more individuals, more organizations and more partners, in both the U.S. and in Nicaragua to create our new organization, Hope Road Nicaragua. Through promoting collaboration, we believe we will have a more effective impact on the most vulnerable in Nicaragua. By connecting, sharing, learning and growing with church and individual partners stateside and in Nicaragua, we are developing lasting relationships that will have an influence on many lives through many generations to come.

Romans 15:13

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
