Why Feeding Programs?
Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in Latin America. According to World Food Program USA, about 29 percent of households live in poverty and 8.3 percent live in extreme poverty on less than $1.25 a day. The highest rates of chronic malnutrition occur in the departments Madriz at 30 percent and Jinotega and Nueva Segovia at 28 percent.
At Hope Road, we strive to reduce those numbers by providing communities with our Feeding Programs. In Isaiah 58:7, God says, "Feed the hungry..." We have the desire to live out this command. Hope Road feeds 3,500 kids 5 times a week, 50 weeks a year. That’s 875,000 meals a year! Each meal costs Hope Road 5 cents. For every $5,000, we can provide 100,000 nutritional and balanced meals at the Hope Road Feeding Programs.
What is included in the meal?
A hungry person has no concern other than easing their hunger. For this reason, we believe it is vital to the growth and wellbeing of others to lead mission with social action. We strive to bring hope and ignite change by first meeting the physical needs of those we serve.
How can you help?
YOU CAN CREATE FEEDING PROGRAM COMMUNITIES
Thanks to our supporters, we have been able to provide feeding programs to 11 communities in Nicaragua! And we don't want to stop any time soon. We have been able to start church plants in 23 different communities in Nicaragua. Our vision is that by 2020, we will have feeding programs in all 23 communities!
